The Peterborough Big Band

The Peterborough Big Band is a nineteen piece swing outfit gigging mainly in Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire, Huntingdonshire and Lincolnshire. Consisting of five saxophones, four trumpets, four trombones, full rhythm section, vocalists Maria O’Connell, Tony Morley and the band's MD John Birkby.

This website contains live musical excerpts and videos for you to enjoy

the real deal

something for everyone

The Band play a wide variety of standards from the golden era of Big Bands to modern pop, rock and funk tunes arranged for a Big Band. This large and varied library will cater for most (if not all) eventualities. When playing to a more "general" audience (rather than a specific jazz audience) we pride ourselves on never playing more than one or two numbers before 'you' will say, "I know this tune!"

Please read some Testimonials

The band's programme is always tailored to suit the booking be that a corporate event, local society, a wedding or other private function. Whilst the band do not play specifically for dances those who know how to dance have always found the steps to enjoy themselves - as you will see on the videos!
